AH-64D Longbow Apache  Attack Helicopter

We'll say it again -- the Longbow Apache is the ultimate attack helicopter! While this site is more about guitars than Longbows, I've decided to add some photos of the world's first Longbow Apache attack helicopter battalion, 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division.

This photo is of the A Company "Avengers", 1-227 Aviation taken with two troopers from the 1st Cavalry Division's Horse Detachment. What you are seeing is a great machine and a collection of Great Americans.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because of soldiers like these we are all able to enjoy our many freedoms. The next time you see a soldier (including our veterans), thank him or her for their sacrifices. Attack.

This is a photo of one of our Longbows landing for refuel in West Texas.
A "Big Rig" on the ramp.  This example is a Lot 1 aircraft with a rocket pod on the outboard wing station and an empty missile rack on the inboard station.  This one is getting ready to fly -- note it is not chained-down and all of the covers and tie-downs are removed. dwrramp.jpg (27412 bytes)
dwr4.jpg (17003 bytes) Another shot in West Texas.   Safety Tip: No smoking around a Longbow.
This is a picture of some of our Longbows on the ramp at Fort Hood, Texas during the Summer of 1998.

Trivia: This ramp was featured in the
movie Firebirds. I like Nick Cage...no further comment required.

This is a shot of one of our Lot 1 Longbows at a field site.
